McKays Bermuda Couch blend is a combination of annual ryegrass, (Sahara) Bermuda couch and fertiliser. In this blend, the Annual ryegrass provides a safety bed which protects and nurtures the growth of Sahara couch. The annual ryegrass will eventually die off after 12 months (usually due to warmer weather) allowing the Sahara’s aggressive runners to take over and fill out the old areas. For best results, plant in a climate that ranges between 18-25 degrees Celsius, and fertilize at least a couple times a year with McKay’s Slow Release Fertiliser. If your are living in parts of Australia where the temperate regularly exceeds 25 degrees, We recommend going with the Pure Sahara Couch as the Annual Rye will not survive long in temperatures over 30 Degrees.

MY GREEN COUCH I used it to replace existing and 'unhappy' couch in lawn. It's done very well indeed. It's a pleasing lighter shade of green than my existing couch and has overwintered well (in Melbourne). One caution: I believe it contains fertiliser so make sure you water it in even if just overseeding or it could cause burning of existing grass.

LUSH, GREEN SWARD IN AUTUMN In March I scarified the old lawn, sowed the seed and scattered a pathetically thin layer of lawn compost over. I kept it watered during days when we received no Autumnal rain - which were many. After a two or three weeks, to my great surprise and pleasure, I saw a little "Greenness" shimmering in the distance and from a low angle. It quickly grew into a thick sward of beautiful green grass. It is still growing slowly in May and I am mowing fortnightly and leaving longish. I assume this is the Annual Rye component and I await next summer to see the Bermuda Couch.

GREAT FAST GROWTH I chose this because of its claim to grow fast and be good for high traffic areas as cars will inevitably roll of the edge of our new concrete drive way and onto this grass. I am pleased to say that my expectations have been met both by my teenage drivers and their friends driving on my grass and the grass standing up to the punishment. It's fast growth prevented erosion in the areas I planted which also exceeded my expectation with the recent storms. I will be ordering some more shortly to finish the job since it has proved successful. Very pleased with this seed Thanks

5 DAY GERMINATION I am very happy with the product with germination occurring just 5 days after planting. It has a good coverage and a nice green colour. I could not have asked for a better result
