McKays Zenith Zoysia Blend is expertly crafted for Australian landscapes, combining the resilience of Zenith Zoysia with the quick establishment of Annual Ryegrass. This blend offers a superior warm-season turf that thrives in challenging climates, providing a lush, green lawn year-round.
Blend Composition
The blend contains 20% Zenith Zoysia, 70% Annual Ryegrass, and 10% McKay’s Slow Release Fertiliser. The Ryegrass provides a protective cover, allowing Zoysia to establish and eventually dominate as the Ryegrass fades.
Optimal pH
Zenith Zoysia performs best in soils with a pH range of 6.0 to 7.0, adapting well to both sandy and clay soils.
Sowing Tips
Sow the seed evenly over the soil surface and lightly rake to incorporate. Use a seed spreader to ensure uniform coverage and prevent seed wastage. Keep the soil consistently moist during the germination period, which lasts approximately 14-21 days.
Optimal Planting Time
For best results, plant during the warmer months, from late spring to early summer, when soil temperatures are consistently above 18°C.
Germination
Germination typically occurs within 14-21 days under ideal conditions. Full establishment may take several months, depending on climate and care.
Water
Regular watering is crucial during the establishment phase. Once established, Zenith Zoysia is drought tolerant and requires less frequent irrigation compared to other grass types.
Fertilising
Apply a balanced fertiliser in early spring and late summer to maintain vibrant growth. McKays Slow Release Fertiliser is recommended for optimal results.
First Mowing
Mow when the grass reaches approximately 7-8cm in height. Regular mowing at a height of 3-5cm will promote dense growth.
Mowing Frequency
Mow regularly during the active growing season, reducing frequency as growth slows in cooler months.
