Poa Trivialis
Poa trivialis (also called “Rough Bluegrass”) is a perennial grass that forms dense light green patches, especially in moist, fertile, fine-textured soils.
A common choice for golf greens and tees, its strong seedling vigour, low vertical growth, and ability to be mown very short provides consistent ball roll. It has excellent shade tolerance and can handle boggy, wet areas so can be sown on its own in these situations in cool climates.
Poa trivialis mixes well with other species and is ideal for transitional oversowing of warm-season grasses such as Couch and Kikuyu for winter colour and wear. When used to oversow, Poa trivalis allows transition back to the companion grass very smoothly and quickly as the warm weather approaches.
Seeding Rates:
New Lawns: 10 grams per square meter (1kg/100m2).
Overseeding: 5 grams per square meter (1kg/200m2).

Description
Sowing Tips: The small size of the seeds allow for easy oversowing, similar to oversowing of Ryegrasses.
Optimal Planting Time: Autumn.
Germination: Approximately 14 days (climate dependent), can germinate at low temperatures.
Water:Â Soil must remain damp throughout the germination period. Water approximately once per week after establishment of grass.
Fertilizing: McKays Slow Release Fertiliser can be used to prepare the soil for sowing of Poa Trivialis.
First Mowing: Approximately 18-21 days after sowing.
Mowing Frequency:Â Tolerates an extremely low height, approx minimum 0.5cm. Mow to desired effect (eg ball speed and roll).
Disadvantages of Poa Trivialis:
- Not heat tolerant.
- Although it is a Perennial Grass it may not completely die off in climates that do not have high temperatures in Summer, therefore can be invasive in these settings.
Seed & package details: 100% Poa Trivialis.
Independently Tested: 85% Min Germination, 98% purity.
Ideal Usage: Oversowing warm season grasses, Residential Lawns, Golf courses: Tees, Putting Greens, Fairways, Bowling Greens.
