McKays Slow Release Lawn Fertiliser

To ensure the health and longevity of your grass, regular fertilising is required. 

McKays Slow Release Fertiliser ensures a measured release of nutrients into the soil over many weeks. This product is able to be used as a starter fertiliser and is also perfect for ongoing use on established lawns.

McKays Slow Release Fertiliser is the recommended product to use as a starter fertiliser prior to, or in combination with, the sowing of your grass seeds. Most grass seeds require an application of appropriate fertiliser with seeding. The McKays Slow Release Fertiliser is able to be broadcast at the same time as our seeds due to its balanced composition. This is considered the first application.

We recommend a second application of fertiliser approximately 8 weeks post-seed germination for most grasses. The second application of this fertiliser assists in root development and supports the grass as it matures. The second application lasts approximately 3 months in the soil.

Following this, we recommend fertilising with McKays Slow Release Fertiliser every 3-6 months to ensure your grass remains in best condition.

Application on a cooler or cloudy day is preferred wherever possible. It is important to water in thoroughly after application to avoid burning of the grass. 

Warm season grasses should be fertilised in Spring, early Summer and Autumn.

Cool season grasses should be fertilised in Autumn, Winter and early-mid Spring.

Frequency: We recommend fertilising your lawn every 3-6 months. 

Distribution Rate:  30g per square meter (3kg per 100 sqm).

Distribution Tip: Using our range of spreaders will assist in more even distribution and avoid clumping of fertiliser, which can burn the grass.
