Rhodes Grass is a creeping (runners) pasture that is adapted to a range of soil and climatic conditions. The low oxalate concentrations make Rhodes grass an excellent pasture grass for horses.
We stock two varieties of Rhodes, Katambora (diploid) and Callide (tetraploid):
Callide Rhodes (tetraploid*) grass horse pasture is suited for the northern tropical climates of QLD, NT and WA. Ideal conditions are a high soil fertility rate and high rainfalls.
Katambora Rhodes grass (diploid*) has superior frost tolerance, salt tolerance and drought tolerance than the Callide. Katambora can be sown in cooler areas of Australia, providing the locations align with the temperature and rainfall recommendations.
